Why join

  • Because the QMA is the only association that brings together and represents general practitioners, specialists, residents and medical students in a forum of converging interests.
  • To be part of an organized show of corporate strength that defends the professional interests of Québec physicians and supports them in their practice and personal life.
  • For the QMA’s ability to intervene and represent Québec physicians provincially and nationally. As a CMA partner, the QMA is the official link to the medical profession in Canada and the other provinces, and defends Québec interests within one of the most influential advocacy organizations in the country.
  • For its Board of Directors that has consisted exclusively of Québec physicians since 1922.
  • For the non-union nature of the QMA, which allows it to take positions and speak openly in the public forum free from any union constraints.
  • Because by joining the QMA, you automatically become a member of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), and benefit from their entire range of customized services.
  • Because by joining the QMA and CMA, you strengthen your medical community’s bargaining power with its political, corporate and financial partners.
  • For the positions it takes in the public forum and political sphere, and for its activities encompassing reflection, discussion, consultation and representation. For its committees, expert groups, discussion groups, surveys, symposiums (including an annual student symposium), annual convention, and various training activities.
  • For the quality of the QMA’s member services, and the importance given to each member.
  • Because excellence, commitment, integrity, coherence and humanism are values that you share.
  • Because you want to take part in the development of future medical practice methods, the organization of new and more efficient care, and a general improvement in the practice of medicine and the health of the population.

For these reasons, and many others, close to 10,000 general practitioners, specialists, residents and medical students have voluntarily become members of the QMA in order to join their colleagues in a dynamic context of reflection and action.
