GET READY TO DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY!

The QMA’s 15th annual convention was held on April 19, 20 and 21, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency Montréal. The event’s theme, Get ready to do things differently!, was intended to encourage discussion on how physicians in Québec must get ready to manage change – a phenomenon that they have often resisted, whether it is on a personal, organizational or professional level. Focused on the search for solutions, the convention highlighted the need for collaboration between health professionals in order to offer patients better care.

The QMA’s president took advantage of the occasion to announce the official launch of the PMI leadership program, in partnership with the Canadian Medical Association that will now be offered for Francophone physicians. The program will start in the fall. The first courses available in French are: La connaissance de soi et leadership efficace (Self-awareness and effective leadership), and Mobiliser les autres (Engaging others). Physicians are required to take on an increasingly greater leadership role in their practice and within their community, a role for which they are often inadequately prepared.

Accreditation

The Division of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of the Faculty of Medicine of the Université de Montréal is fully accredited by the committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME), by the Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ).

The Division of CPD approves this activity for 15 hours of category 1 (Main Pro-M1) credits for the attending general practitioner (family physician). For the specialist physician, the Division of CPD approves 1 credit per hour of attendance for a total of 15 credits for the entire activity in accordance with the Maintenance of Certfication program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
